چکیده

The red mud (RM) has been used as an alternative low-cost adsorbent to remove trace elements, with the adsorption onto sodalite surface described main removal mechanism for elements. However, recent studies have shown that precipitation might be of great importance some metals using natural and thermal activated RM. Therefore, aim this study was identify responsible Cd(II), Pb(II) Zn(II) from aqueous solutions forms RM, based on sequential extractions a kinetic model developed. Results showed carbonate fraction highest elements (ca. 85%), minerals assemblages precipitated: otavite – CdCO3, cerussite - PbCO3, smithsonite ZnCO3 anglesite PbSO4. mineral limit due HCO3− consumption during formation new minerals. Hence, central removal, regardless or This finding raise doubt about effectiveness traditional isotherms kinetics models describe contributing insights future researches involving these hazardous materials.

Removal of Congo red from aqueous solutions using nano-Chitosan

It is now recognized that adsorption using low-cost adsorbents is an effective and economic method for water decontamination. Chitosan is derived by deacetylation of the naturally occurring biopolymer chitin which is the second most abundant polysaccharide in the world after cellulose. In this study, the capacity of the chitosan nanoparticles was studied for the removal of the anionic Congo red...

INVESTIGATING SELECTIVE REMOVAL OF Cr(VI) AND Zinc IONS FROM AQUEOUS MEDIA BY MECHANICAL-CHEMICAL ACTIVATED RED MUD

In this study, the adsorption of hexavalent chromium and zinc ions from the solution is investigated by raw red mud and mechanical-chemical activated red mud along with the possibility of selective reclamation of these ions from the solution. The mechanical-chemical activation of red mud was done by employing high-energy milling and subsequent acid treatment with HNO3. Raw red mud (RRM) and mec...
